Mainers camp out to get to the front of the line at state’s first Krispy Kreme

Mainers have camped out at the Saco location of the state’s first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop since Monday, hoping to be among the first customers when the place opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, WGME, CBS 13, reported.

The store planned prize giveaways for the first 100 people to make it through the door, including the top prize of free doughnuts for a year.

The opening event Tuesday morning featured a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Saco Mayor Ronald Michaud.

The closest Krispy Kreme shops before the new Saco location were in Canada and Connecticut.
